Easy homemade burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 500 g minced beef
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 4 burger buns or rolls

How to make it

  1. In a bowl, mix together the diced onion, minced beef and egg.
  2. Once combined, divide into four and use your hands to mould into a ball. Press each ball down lightly, making sure all four are the same size so that they cook evenly – about 3 cm thick. Cover in cling-film and leave in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  3. Brush the burgers with oil and grill or barbecue for five minutes. Turn over the burgers and brush with oil again, then grill for another five minutes until cooked through.
  4. Place the burgers in the buns and add lettuce, sliced tomato and any other fillings – how about salsa, cheese, bacon or gherkin? Serve with a salad.
