Review: Read-along Fairy Tales

I feel the Christmas rush looming out there in the world, but here in Cape Town we are slowing down for summer and the afternoons are getting longer and warm enough to lounge around reading great booksโ€ฆ And so we have another fabulous Priddy book to reviewโ€ฆย A large board book packed with Fairy Tales.

My kids love fairy tales and can listen to them again and again, they like the familiarity, they like the โ€œgaspโ€ in the story and they like knowing the ending!!! Who wouldnโ€™t want to know the ending to Hansel and Gretal or Little Red Riding Hood? So when this book arrived it didnโ€™t actually land in our houseโ€ฆ the package arrived and it flew straight into welcoming arms!!! Very quickly there was a chief storyteller, but many others were able to catch a few sneak peaksโ€ฆย Theyย loved the textured pages and couldnโ€™t get enough of them!!!

Another feature of this book that my kids just didnโ€™t notice at first, was that it comes with a read-along CD retelling all the stories. They were hooked, listening and reading and listening and reading and repeat!!! As a mom I can say that the CD was quite pleasant and I was happy to have it playing in the background. So often story CDs you listen to once and hope they vanish into a burning fire!!! Well not this one, no hidden hideous background music, just the story read clearly with a few edifying sounds in the backgroundโ€ฆ a mooing cow and twittering birds!!!

Hereโ€™s a list of the tales:

  • The Gingerbread Man
  • The Three Little Pigs
  • The Princess and the Pea
  • Little Red Riding Hood
  • Rapunzel
  • The Ugly Duckling
  • Goldilocks and the Three Bears
  • Hansel and Gretal
  • Jack and the Beanstalk
