Yet again, we’ve done extremely well at the Practical Pre-School and Primary Teacher Update Awards, picking up two gold and two silver awards!
These prestigious awards are presented annually by trade publication Practical Pre-School Magazine and sister magazine, Primary Teacher Update Magazine. The awards identify and reward excellence in books, educational equipment, childcare products and toys for children. The Practical Preschool Awards focus on products for newborns up to five, while Primary Teacher Update Awards are for products aimed at children aged 5 to 11. All products are marked based on tests by children and childcare professionals. The set criteria include scores for appeal to children, durability, educational value, play value and value for money.
With such vigorous tests and strict criteria these awards really are something to be proud of, so I’m delighted to report that we did very well in both age categories! Take a look below for the breakdown of our awards, and the comments from the testers.
Gold Award – Smart Kids Space
A Gold Award winner in the Primary Teacher Update Awards, for products aimed at children age 5+, Smart Kids Space scored very highly with the testers, receiving an overall score of 93%! Here’s what the testers had to say:
‘A fantastic book to read with the children. It was very bright and colourful and had fantastic illustrations. The language used was suitable, just occasionally including technical words which could be defined in the glossary. There was a nice range of content and the visual time table was interesting. The hardback design means the book is durable and will survive in the classroom.’
Gold Award – Wipe Clean Learning: First Words, Pen Control
Another Gold Award for Priddy Books, this time in the Practical Pre-School Awards, for First Words and Pen Control. These two new additions to our Wipe Clean Learning Series were definitely a hit with the testers:
‘The children enjoyed practising writing simple words and drawings. They liked to try and clean the books themselves and start again which was a fantastic way of reinforcing their learning. The books were sturdy and durable and the activities were very self-explanatory so all of the children found them easy to use.’
Silver Award – Bright Baby First 100 Numbers
This new title in our classic Bright Baby First 100 Series scored highly with the judges too, picking up a Silver Practical Pre-School Award. It’s great to find that the simple, colourful design is as popular as ever!
‘This is a great resource to encourage sharing as it is a large book. With bright pictures of recognisable objects, it focuses on lots of different areas such as body parts, animals and fruit. Excellent value for money’
Silver Award – Baby Basics: My First Words
Baby Basics: My First Words is the first title in our new Baby Basics range (we have four more titles coming out in December), so we were so excited to hear that it received a Silver Practical Pre-School Award.
‘This book is well thought out and presented with real-life pictures and photographs. Children across the early years thoroughly enjoyed reading it. A wide variety of topics were included, initiating conversation and increasing vocabulary. The book covered all early learning goals, focusing on language and literacy.’
