Meet the Team—Valentine

Welcome to the first blog post in our new series—Meet the team! In this series we will be interviewing Priddy staff so you can get to know more about the people behind Priddy Books.

Valentine Lechevallier, International Rights Manager

Tell us a bit about you and how you came to work at Priddy Books.

Almost two years ago, after working in publishing in France and Spain, I moved back to London and stumbled upon a job offer where they were looking for someone with a sense of humour… the rest is history.

What does a normal day look like for you?

My job consists in selling our lovely books to international publishers, so that our titles are available in as many languages as possible. When I’m in the office, this means many emails, a few phone calls, and a lot of spreadsheets (A LOT). Otherwise, I’ll be travelling around Europe with a suitcase full of books to meet my customers.

What bit of your job do you think people would be most surprised to learn you do?

At Priddy, our job goes a little further than just selling: we sometimes get involved in the creative process as well as in the production one, to make sure our books are as successful and affordable as possible for our international customers.

Which book have you worked on that you feel most proud of?

My team and I have sold See, Touch, Feel in more than 20 languages in less than a year. It’s a great sensory book, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we sold even more!

And finally, what is your favorite part of your job?

Seeing one of our titles on the shelves when I visit bookstores abroad always makes my heart swell with pride. Apart from that, I feel very lucky to be able to travel so much AND to have a fantastic team in London!
