Beth, Production Assistant
Tell us a bit about you and how you came to work at Priddy Books.
I studied illustration whilst at Uni so I have experience working on books. I love being creative and also love organisation, and production is a great mix of the two as I get to see the behind the scenes of how a book is printed.
What does a normal day look like for you?
Each day is different which I enjoy, in the morning I answer any email queries. I then go through the books I am currently handling and check to see what stages they are at, whether that’s receiving files from designers or getting the books safety tested. I then go through and action anything that needs doing to make sure the books schedule stays on track.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I love the creative environment at Priddy and working in production means I often talk to people in all the different departments which is nice. I also enjoy working through the different stages of book production and ticking them off as I go.
What bit of your job do you think people would be most surprised to learn you do?
There are more stages involved in book production than I thought- I was surprised at how many things need to be safety tested including materials in the book such as fluffy fabrics or glitters.
Which book have you worked on that you feel most proud of?
As I haven’t worked at Priddy long I have only worked on one book from start to finish so far which is ‘Night Night Farm’ but I love the book and the illustrations plus the fact it has glow in the dark ink in!
