Practical Pre-School Awards Ceremony 2010

Holly (centre) with the Overall Gold Award for Sing-along Song

The Practical Pre-School Awards Ceremony was held last month, and as we announced at the time, we did rather well!

We were all very excited at Priddy Books as the 2010 Practical Pre-School Awards ceremony approached, and Nat and I went along to the Park Crescent Conference Centre in London to find out if any of our books would receive awards.

The Practical Pre-School Awards are run by Practical Pre-School magazine, a specialist magazine for professionals working in the Early Years Foundation stage. The Awards were founded to reward companies who excel in creating books, equipment and toys for early years and key stage 1 and as Priddy Books has done well in the past, we were really keen to see how we had done this year!

The best thing about these Awards, is that the 500 products under consideration are tested by the people that actually use them: children and childcare professionals from nurseries, pre-schools, child minders and after-school clubs. Around 1500 people tested and provided feedback on the products. It is always great to hear what they have to say about our books! After testing, they scored the books on very tough criteria in order to award an Overall Winner, Gold, Silver or Bronze awards in the different categories.

As the ceremony got under way we were pretty nervous. Liz, our marketing manager, had a feeling we might win something so we were psyching ourselves up to going up to the front!

Soon, the first award winner was announced for the Overall Winner in the Books and Publications category and it was… Priddy Books for Sing-along Songs! What brilliant news! Off we went to the front to accept the hefty glass award.

After this, we were also given four more awards – Gold for the Make and Do series – Craft and Cook – and Silver for the Big and Busy Series, Lift-the-Flap Shadow Books and Wipe Clean Workbooks – so we had a lot to carry back to the office!

It was a brilliant day and really great to know that so many children have enjoyed our books.

Have a look what the testers said about our books here.
