With vigorous testing by children and early-learning experts, winning a Practical Pre-School Award is really something to be proud of, which is why I’m delighted to report that Priddy Books did extremely well at the award ceremony on Friday, receiving a fantastic six awards! Take a look below for a little bit more about the awards and the breakdown of exactly what we won.
The Practical Pre-School Awards, presented annually by trade publication Practical Pre-School Magazine, are awarded for outstanding books, educational equipment and toys for children, focusing on products for newborns up to five years old. All products are rigorously tested by children and childcare and education professionals. The set criteria include scores for appeal to children, durability, educational value, play value and value for money.
Gold Award – Hello Baby Play and Learn
Our Hello Baby Play and Learn books scored very highly with the testers, receiving an overall score of 95.6%. The interactive bars on Playtime, Numbers and Colours were a huge hit!
What the testers said: “What beautiful books – the colours are bright and the illustrations are lovely. The interactive play bars kept even babies’ attention. The attractive illustrations and words encouraged the acquisition of language and older children enjoyed talking and expanding on what they saw. There are lots of everyday words in the book. Good value and the children are still using them.”
Silver Award – Schoolies Storybooks
The storybooks in our Schoolies range, by Ellen Crimi-Trent, went down really well with children preparing to start school. Making Friends and My First Day at School scored a fantastic 85.4%.
What the testers said: “Great books to read in the summer term as children have started visits to their ‘big’ schools. We felt that the books covered the nervous/worried feelings perfectly, and helped our children express their worries about transition. Well priced too.”
Silver Award – Schoolies: Wipe Clean Books
The wipe clean books in our Schoolies range also received a silver award! Let’s Get Ready for School and Wipe Clean Activity Flash Cards scored a brilliant 84.4%.
What the testers said about Wipe Clean Let’s Get Ready for School: “Children 4+ years thoroughly engaged and keen. The variety of pages in the book allowed children to choose an activity according to their confidence level. Great illustrations and covered a wide range of areas if learning – great talking points! The slot for a pen was a great idea! I was initially worried about children understanding that some books we can write on and some we can’t, but over time they understood.”
Silver Award – Hello Baby Board Books
Animals, Faces, On the Go and Words, our range of Hello Baby Board Books for newborns were awarded a silver award, scoring 80%.
What the testers said: “Amazing chunky board books – our babies loved them. It was easy for them to turn the pages and each page had pictures set on a black or white background, which was very visually stimulation. They were appealing to children and the books were well constructed so would stand up well to the wear and tear of little hands.”
Bronze Awards – Schoolies My School Day and School House
We’re proud to say that Schoolies My School Day and Schoolies School House were both awarded a bronze award.
