Yet again Priddy Books has done extremely well at the Practical Pre-School Awards, picking up 5 awards, including the Overall Category Winner, for the second year running, in Preschool Books and Publications for My Big Board Books, and the Overall Category Winner in 5to7 Books and Publications for Smart Kids Animal A-Z! We also won two Silver Awards and one Bronze Award.
These coveted awards are presented annually by trade publication Practical Pre-School magazine and sister magazine, 5-7 Educator. They identify and reward excellence in books, educational equipment, childcare products and toys for children from birth to eight years old. All products are marked based on tests by children and childcare professionals. The set criteria include scores for appeal to children, durability, educational value, play value and value for money.
The awards ceremony was held this morning and Louisa and I went along to collect the awards which were presented by Dr Amanda Gummer, a specialist in play and child development.

Smart Kids Animal A-Z
‘Fantastic! Good quality large photos of usual and unusual animals, birds and sea creatures. The children loved reciting the alphabet and finding an animal beginning with that letter and it presented a new way of teaching the alphabet. It is a good non-fiction book for all ages. It gives easy-to-remember facts about size, habitat, and diet in a fun way. The whole class enjoyed this book. Very good value.’

‘This product looks great! It immediately caught the children’s attention. The experiments were explained clearly and concisely with simple images to support. Great for use with the whole class, this was easy to use and a good price. There were great practical ideas for scientific enquiry, and the experiments demonstrated scientific principles that were suitable for young children.’

My Big Board Books – Animal, Farm, Truck
‘The children loved the books and sought them out every day. They particularly loved the farm book – both boys and girls enjoyed this one. The other two books were favoured by the boys. These cater for a wide age range and are excellent for improving communication, language and literacy skills – supporting almost all areas of EYFS. Very durable and great value for money.’

‘Brilliant! The wipe clean idea saved photocopying. The books were educational, and the interesting, brightly coloured images held the children’s attention. They can be used individually and as a group activity, and are good fun, while teaching core EYFS skills.’
